Just last week we received our first big storm and ski season is just around the corner. After an abrupt end to the 2019 season the Vista Bahn staff couldn’t be happier to welcome our loyal guests back for Winter 2020! We have taken measures to make sure all our customers, locker room and daily users, are as safe as possible given the COVID risk. That said however, it is time to consider your equipment, is it as ready as you are?!
Now that the bikes are out of the shop, the WinterSteiger Scout is back at home and already working overtime to make sure our fleet of demo skis are in tip top shape, let us help make sure you are ready for this coming ski season as well.
Boots: It seems silly, but your boots need a bit of attention before you put them on for the first time of the ski season, always a treat for your feet. Take a peek at how you left them after skiing came to a halt. If they aren’t buckled take a moment and buckle them the way that you would if you were wearing them; months in storage can make them lose their shape! Take a moment to look at the soles; if you walk on pavement (or Vail’s famous cobblestones) you may have uneven wear which may affect the interface between the boot and binding. If it looks like this is the case let us know, we can order new soles, or have our friends upstairs at Surefoot help out! Check the liners; did you leave a toe warmer inside, are there any wrinkles? These simple things can make day one on snow a bit easier.
Skis: Our sweet spot is your skis, let us make sure they are ready for action! If you had a chance to get them summerized before storage well done, now let us winterize them. If not its ok, we can give them a tune up in a jiffy. If they were summerized we will scrape the storage wax off, give them a light base grind, check the edges, and re-wax with appropriate temperature wax. If they weren’t treated before storage do not worry, a full tune will have them back in action just drop them off. If you are in the market for something new let us know, we have new skis coming in everyday and demo skis available as well!
The first time back on snow for a new ski season is always exciting, but can be a bit of a pain as well, take some of the stress out of day one by letting the VBSR staff give your gear a once over, see you in the shop soon and stay tuned to hear how we are taking precautions in order to keep you all safe.
