While we wait for more snow to fall, and for our favorite runs to open it is the perfect time to think of new skis. Skiing the same few groomed trails can get redundant but doing that to test new skis is the best way to feel how they perform.
At Vista Bahn Ski Rentals we recommend a day to demo the new gear so that you can be informed before you make a purchase. There are a number of models and brands to try. Here are our recommendations:
Hot New Skis for Women
K2 MindBender 88: Incredibly quick underfoot, with reinforced PowerWalls and Titanal-backed construction which allow for full-throttle carving. The K2 Mindbender 88 also has the shape and early tip and tail rise required for chalky snow, chunder & crud light powder. A VBSR staff choice.
Head Kore W 93: New this season, The Kore W 93 initiates turns quickly and easily and has a ton of energy throughout the arc. Incredibly lightweight, yet stiff ski which performs great on groomed terrain but can also charge through chopped snow & crud, and help you float on those 4-6 inch days. The Kore 93 was one of the Men’s skis of the year last season, and the Kore W is sure to follow suit.
Blizzard Black Pearl: The Black Pearl has been on top pf the list of women’s performance skis for the past few seasons, and the current model is as good as ever. One of the best all-mountain, all-condition, all skier-type skis we’ve ever seen; the Black Pearl provides lightweight, stable control for lady skiers of many different abilities and is a perfect ski for Vail’s groomed terrain as well the Back Bowls.
These are just a few for the Ladies, there are plenty more for you to come sand check out, not to mention powder skis…
Hot New Skis for Men
K2 MindBender 90: The Men’s Minbender comes in varying widths, at VBSR we carry the 90 and 116 underfoot. The 90 is an all mountain ski for all ability levels. At home on groomers as well as in the crud it is perfect for daily use, and when it gets deep grab the 116 underfoot and have at it!
Blizzard Bushwacker (that is how they spell it!): The Bushwacker is a nice mix of all mountain and free-ride; with the ability to hold an edge on groomers and hard pack, and the playfulness to get in the bumps and jumps all day, its a true multi-tool. With carbon streamers from tip to tail the Bushwacker is stable at speed, but requires less work than a ski with titanium from tip to tail.
Head Monster 88: One of the most aggressive skis in our lineup, the Monster 88 is made to carve. Happiest on hard pack and groomed terrain this is a ski that requires some work, but you get out what you put in; with metal from tip to tail there is a snap between every turn! For advanced skiers that want to go fast and get into each turn this is the ski to try.
We have plenty of options and recommend you come in and give our hot new skis a try. Our staff has tried everything in house and can help you choose what will work best for you!
